Summerfest 2011: Side Stage Snapshots

The strong winds whipping off the lake wreaked havoc on the sound during Neon Trees' set at the U.S. Cellular Connection Stage on Thursday night, creating uneven volume and carrying over music from nearby stages.

But that didn't dampen the energy of the Provo, Utah-based quartet and its frenetic frontman, Tyler Glenn. Dressed in a shiny gold and silver jacket and sporting a striking black mohawk, he danced and twirled across the stage as he traded vocals on "Girls and Boys in School" with drummer Elaine Bradley.

The band is touring with an extra guitarist this summer, and the group's poppy synthesized rock got the crowd on the bleachers moving as Glenn bent over his keyboard and belted out the impassioned chorus of "Calling My Name."
