Surrender to Neon Trees

There is something about alternative rock band Neon Trees that one can't help but like.

First there is the name, Neon Trees. Evocative of shiny, glowing trinkets of the natural kind, it begs to be noticed. Then there is their music, a blend of adolescent angst, longing, love lost and found that has created several rock anthems of this generation. Being face to face with two of the members of the band, one is inclined to feel a sense of curiosity and admiration for their music.

Neon Trees talk ‘Habits’, Diet Coke and breaking rules

The day after their energetic performance at the 2011 MTV World Stage in Malaysia, we caught up with Neon Trees and were pleasantly surprised to see how much fun they had in them, even after a massively rocking night on stage.

Speaking exclusively to Tyler Glenn (vocals), Chris Allen (guitar), Branden Campbell (bass) and Elaine Bradley (drums), we found out what they almost named the band, the cool police escort they had to MTV World Stage and their habits.

Interview with MTV Asia

A good pop song should have heart. And if you listen closely to Neon Trees, that’s what the band is really all about. Unabashed heart-on-the-sleeves emotions coupled with slick pop hooks and gripping melodies. Doesn’t hurt when the band don’t take themselves way too seriously and are always ready to inject that tongue-in-cheek punch to what they do as well.
