Neon Trees Perform on Jimmy Fallon 1/15/2011

Neon Trees bassist Branden Campbell stopped by the Fender Showcase today and dished on what a blast the appearance was, particularly hanging out all night with JImmy Fallon’s band the Vanilla Wombats, who performed their hilarious hit “My Upstairs Neighbors Are Having Sex.” Here’s Campbell on the bass as he tries to remember the Vanilla Wombats new tune …

Neon Trees at Marquee Theatre

Neon Trees are neither neon nor trees. What they are is a band; a band that rocked the hell out of Marquee Theatre over the weekend. See Neon Tress along with Iamwe, and local boys Peachcake in this slideshow from the concert.

Crazy concert concept pits Ludacris, Neon Trees in head-to-head competition

The competition featured five rounds. The warm-up round consisted of each band playing three of their own songs. That was followed by the cover. In it, both performed their own versions of Michael Jackson's "PYT." The Takeover was the third round. It was a collaborative round where one band started playing one of their own tunes then the other group took over mid-song to finish it out with their own flair. Round four was the clash. This round challenged the bands versatility as they adapted their songs to the music genres of DJ Mick Boogie’s choice – reggae, acoustic, and metal. The fifth and final round was the wild card round. In it, the bands pulled out all the stops and surprises to win the crowd over.

Glowing Strong

Two songs shoehorned between 22 commercials is hardly entertaining, unless of course, one of the songs is by Utah’s Neon Trees. No stranger to supportive airplay, the band’s single, “Animal,” is a fine, catchy example of radio’s (struggling) potential for influence and support. With “Animal” in steady rotation, and tours with bands like My Chemical Romance and Thirty Seconds To Mars checked off of their to do list, Neon Trees have taken quite nicely to their successes.

[Audio Perv:] Review of Summer Stage, Central Park in NYC

Neon Trees were the direct support band at the Central Park show, playing a catchy 40 minute set. Singer Tyler Glenn is a wondrous frontman with near limitless energy and charisma (apparently lacking only a belt for his pants), and it definitely showed last night. The crowd was curious, most likely due to the enormous success of single “Animal”, but definitely went away highly impressed. The band played an impressive cover of Michael Jackson’s “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)” after announcing that there were many PYT’s in the audience.
