Neon Trees were the direct support band at the Central Park show, playing a catchy 40 minute set. Singer Tyler Glenn is a wondrous frontman with near limitless energy and charisma (apparently lacking only a belt for his pants), and it definitely showed last night. The crowd was curious, most likely due to the enormous success of single “Animal”, but definitely went away highly impressed. The band played an impressive cover of Michael Jackson’s “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)” after announcing that there were many PYT’s in the audience.[To read the full review for Neon Trees, plus Panic!, and photos, visit the Audio Perv]

Live Review: Neon Trees
Tango Goes Animal for the Neon Trees
Finally, the Trees themselves hit the stage. Not to be shown up by their opening acts, the band had the crowd cheering from the very start. Striding onstage in a bright red motorcycle jacket and matching sunglasses, lead vocalist Tyler Glenn wasted no time breaking into a spirited rendition of “Your Surrender.” Though the set list consisted primarily of tracks from their only album, Habits, a few extras—“Calling My Name” and “Phones”—slipped their way in. Particularly notable was the spectacular performance of their hit single Animal, which had the crowd just about to slip into an animal frenzy themselves.[To read the full review, visit The Beijinger]

Album Review: Neon Trees – Habits
With their amazing energy that clearly shows in every track, Neon Trees can never be branded boring to be completely honest. Since it’s branded as a rock album, it’s never far that it could be a bit rambunctious at times especially ‘1983’ that might be considered an instant hook as it gets its inspiration from the punk rock music scene.[To read the full review, visit The Beat Review]

Neon Addiction
Along with their eccentric music, the band members also have an eccentric look, the lead singer sporting many crazy hairstyles. Their music videos are also very entertaining to watch.[To read more of the review, visit The Crimson Messenger Online]
If this is the first album by them someone listens to, the addiction festers quickly and the search for previous songs begins.

Neon Trees give Bonnaroo fans what they’ve been ‘waiting for’
Utah’s Neon Trees were one of the odder acts performing on a tent stage at Bonnaroo in 2011 — in that they’re one of the most accessible. Sure, you have hit-making headliners like Eminem on the big stages, but counterculture figures tend to rule the tents of the ‘Roo.[To read more of the review, visit Blog.Tennessean]
Neon Trees, on the other hand, had a huge pop hit last year with “Animal,” a sassy, Strokes-owing rock anthem that was even covered by the Glee kids. But the massive turnout for the band’s Sunday afternoon set offered another sign that today’s young music fans just aren’t cynical about success like they used to be.

At-A-Glance: Neon Trees
With the energy of a punk band and soul of R&B, Neon Trees comes in hot from Provo, Utah. Band members, Tyler Glenn (vocals and keyboard), Chris Allen (guitar), Branden Campbell (bass) and Elaine Bradley (drums) bring about a style that is both new and old. With their debut album Habits released on March 16, fans screamed for more.[To see more of the review, visit the Trojan Tribune]

Neon Trees Stand Tall
This band is obviously going places. It’s not hard to get caught up in their high energy, contagious alt pop. But it’s the unique, consistent drive in Tyler Glenn’s voice, gliding above the bands metronomic cadence (thanks to cute drummer Elaine Bradley), that delivers their well-crafted songs.[To read the full performance review, visit Talk Show Music Fan]

Single Commentary: Your Surrender by Neon Trees
“ Your Surrender definitely has a prom-vibe to it, with a great drum/bass up-tempo pop-rock alternative sound. This track is one of Neon Trees’ best. It captures teen romance at its most passionate. The lyrics are enchanting, and make a listener remember the moments of their own prom, and teen romances. "[To read more, visit ReviewFix]

Success grows on trees -- Neon Trees
" They've performed on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" twice in nine months. They've topped Billboard and iTunes charts. They've sold more than 1 million digital copies of their hit single. The song-happy cast of the top-rated Fox TV show "Glee" has paid tribute to them.[To read more, visit PE.com]

My Chemical Romance and Neon Trees Ignite the Fillmore
" Playing songs from their debut album Habits the performance was highlighted of course by singles 1983 early in the set and Animal towards the end. They performed like a headlining band and packed their time spent on stage with a live show that was entertaining and as colorful as their name implies. "[To read more, visit The Examiner]

My Chemical Romance Pours It On
" It was a night for frontmen to shine, as Provo rock band Neon Trees opened, with mohawked lead singer Tyler Glenn showing the charismatic stage presence of an experienced rocker, swinging the mic like Roger Daltrey and openly emoting on his knees. Unfortunately, as Glenn explained from the stage, the band was late getting to the show because they had just flown in. As a result, they were limited to a five-song, 20-minute set. The quartet played Sins of My Youth, 1983, In the Next Room, Your Surrender and closed with their 2010 radio hit Animal.[To read the full show review, visit Sltrib.com]
But both Gerard Way and Glenn illustrated that when you have good hair and unbridled energy, who needs pyrotechnics? "

Catching Up With Neon Trees: The Provo band’s time in the spotlight isn’t ending any time soon
" In the pre-iTunes days, a new band knew they had “made it” when their single landed on the Billboard Top 40, MTV played their video or they got to meet Dick Clark on American Bandstand.[To read more, visit City Weekly]
Things are a little different in 2011, and music-biz “success” is marked by new signposts. For Provo’s Neon Trees, whose major-label debut was released a year ago, the past 12 months have been full of touring, playing high-profile talk shows like Conan and watching their first single, Animal, make a slow, steady, 33-week climb to No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Rock Chart. But perhaps nothing indicates Utah’s homegrown pop-rockers have infiltrated pop culture quite like what happened on March 8. "

Band Should Make Music a Career, Not ‘Habit’
" Like any other album, the songs are made to stir excitement in their audience. In Girls and Boys in School and Your Surrender each song begins with a solo instrument introduction and is shortly thereafter joined by other members of the band. During the chorus of both songs, the singing and instruments are well represented — one instrument does not dominate over the other.[Note: Article dates March 2010.
Neon Trees deserves credit for the energy and emotion they put into their music, exemplified by their final song of the album, Our War, which proves Glenn can certainly send a message to an audience. "

Rock Inspirations for New Creations
" Right off the bat, their new wave-type numbers, like The Cure-inspired In The Next Room, jump out as favorites. The same can be said upon hearing the euro beats of Girls And Boys In School, and the definitive ’80s pop rock flashback called 1983 that we’re sure the late director John Hughes would have loved. Review from the Musical Doctors: Neon Trees
" Neon Trees is a great, new, up and coming band known by their most popular song Animal. I have been listening to this band non-stop for a little over a month now and I am yet to and doubt I will ever get tired of them. Neon Trees show similarities to Athlete, Barcelona, and Carolina Liar. Like the 3 similar bands Neon Trees are easy to listen to with a music style that you love to listen to in great moods, but also will when you are down or upset. Filthy 'Habits'
" Habits was released by Neon Trees on March 16th, 2010. Their single, Animal, has since taken the nation by storm, forcing its way into the mainstream music scene and carving a niche for other alternative artists to use as a stepping stone on their way to fame. As far as I’m concerned, hardcore rap is on its way out, with smoother R&B and alternative taking over in its place. There are nine tracks on Habits, all of them good but some standing out. "[To read more, visit The Royal Herald]
Habits | Neon Trees
" ONE might say that the music of Neon Trees is pretty much third-generation post-punker, from the lineage of New Order, The Police and U2. Not that it really matters, when the material is as "catchy" as the songs showcased on this debut album from the Mormon band from Utah. "[To read the full review, visit Today Online]

Riot Magazine reviews Neon Trees & Habits
" Stand out tracks are Our War and In The Next Room. Our War is full of the most beautiful lyrics and is a perfect listen for anyone who’s had to get over a significant relationship. The lyrics “I’m leaving our war behind, Life can go on without you” are very inspirational and definitely what someone will need to listen to. In The Next Room has a slightly different feel to it and is a lot more mellow and jazzy. It’s full of clever lyrics, such as “You play me like I’m made of strings, I’m the Violin, a melody I want your lips to sing”. This song will most likely be a favourite for many fans because of its uniqueness. "[To check out the full review, visit Riot Magazine]
