Why Neon Trees' singer loves Glee

Growing up, Neon Trees frontman Tyler Glenn had what you might call a "Billy Elliot complex".

Glenn, 28, loved performing as a child, and began taking dance lessons at the age of four.

But, like the fictional Elliot, his hobby made him the subject of bullying in school. It got so bad that he abandoned his passion at age 12.

Neon Trees Are Flattered by 'Glee' Attention, Reveal Reason for Covering Justin Bieber's 'Baby'

Neon Trees have been growing ever bigger this spring as the rockers follow-up a Coachella appearance and a supporting slot for My Chemical Romance with their current headlining tour.

Speaking exclusively to AOL Music, Neon Trees bassist Branden Campbell talked about how Justin Bieber fanatics reacted to the band's version of 'Baby,' how their biggest hit got onto 'Glee' and how a desecrated bobblehead of Jersey Shore's 'Mike 'The Situation' became their tour mascot.

Neon Trees Excited About Glee Cover

" While some bands have balked at being part of the Fox hit 'Glee,' Neon Trees says they're excited to be a part of the show when their song Animal is covered in the March 8th episode.

"We think 'Glee' is hilarious, gives an important focus back to the arts in school, and in an ever changing musical industry, promotes music in an interesting way," lead singer Tyler Glenn told PopEater. "We're happy they love Animal and are looking forward to seeing how they incorporate it into the story." "
